Xiaomi is the only smartphone brand that promises to give outstanding specifications at a very affordable price, with the same strategy Xiaomi launched its new smartphone Redmi 4 in India on 16 May 2017.

Getting a Xiaomi device is very hard, only a few lucky ones get a chance to grab the device on their sales.I got Redmi 4 via offline store with a price of Rs 7499 for base variant.

Redmi 4 comes in 2 color options – Gold and Black.

In my honest opinions the mid variant Rs 8999 one looks promising and provides the best value for money. The 4g+64GB variant looks overpriced and there are more options available at this price point.

Redmi 4 looks amazing with metal body especially the black variant.

The Device spots an HD display with a resolution of 1280 * 720 that gives good viewing angles and colors are also punchy and vibrant. The moment you press the power button the magic starts, the display does not feel like a cheap mobile with potato quality of a display.😆

The display has some sort of scratch resistant but that does not come from Corning or Asahi. They are using 3rd party display.

We all know that Xiaomi had done big blunders in camera, Yes….I am talking about redmi note 3, though they used a Samsung iso cell sensor but may be  they failed to calibrate properly with the hardware or software..leaving that, let’s come to Redmi 4 Camera.

Redmi 4 has 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. The camera interface is same as we see on any other xiaomi smartphones.

It is capable to record 720p and 1080p videos. The output is pretty impressive.

Surprisingly, this time the camera is improved a lot when we compare to previous redmi devices or even redmi note 3.

The camera has some serious focusing issue, I hope xiaomi will fix this via a system update.I tried many times but not achieved a success. The problem arises only on micro objects like wires, nails etc.

The Camera is above average.

Below are some camera samples –

The single speaker on the bottom is louder and may be the loudest I have ever used. The quality is not the best but good enough for the given price point. at higher volume, the quality tends to fade away a little bit.

Redmi 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core clocked at 1.4 GHz. Performance is smooth, however with miui that is resource hungry OS hits hard on 2Gb variant but there should not be any major problem as long as you don,t run a bunch of apps together.

For Day to Day Normal usage, there are no problems unless you get your fingers dirt on running bunch of apps together and playing heavy games at high settings.

I did not find any issues with calls, calling experience was loud and good.wifi sometimes went disconnected automatically and had to restart to get it working, with future updates it can be fixed easily apart from that everything is working.

IR Blaster is working fine.

The fingerprint sensor is insanely fast and works almost all the times.

I played Mortal Kombat X and Asphalt 8 On Redmi 4.Both Games played well but there were minor lags, may be due to 2GB ram.otherwise the handset is powerful enough to play almost all games at medium settings.

The battery can be charged to 100% in approx 3 hours. You can expect 6-10 hours of medium to heavy usage and 2 days of mixed usage easily on redmi 4.

For the price, there is no other handset that can compete with redmi 4, It just ticks all the right boxes.I have just one word if you are on a tight budget then just go for it.
