Today at an event in New Delhi, Motorola India launched its two new smartphones Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play which a trimmed down version of Moto G6. I am not at all happy with the pricing strategy of Moto India, surely the prices are lower than international pricing but still, Motorola could have thought of tough rivals like Xiaomi and Now Asus with their Zenfone max pro M1. Anyway leaving all these things for later, let us now see what these smartphones have to offer and are they totally worth it?
Specifications Of Moto G6 And Moto G6 Play
Both smartphones feature a 5.7 inches display but Moto G6 has a Full HD+ resolution while Play version has an HD+ display.
Moto G6 supports a contour 3D back and is protected with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass. Both the devices flaunt in trend 18:9 display format that helps to retain smaller size but bigger display.
Moto G6 is powered by an octa-core processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 whereas the Lower version( Play ) is having Snapdragon 430 processor. Seriously Motorola, 4xx series is meant for budget categories like for smartphones under 7K, here your pricing is very close to the competition that is providing Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and even takes example Of Realme 1 that bears a fast and efficient Helio p60 from MediaTek.So coming to the point directly, you should have implemented at least Snapdragon 630 or even older 625 to remain competitive in the markets of Xiaomi, Realm, and Asus.
Coming to Optics Moto G6 is having dual rear camera setup bearing a 12 MP sensor along with a secondary 5 MP sensor. There is a 16 MP front camera too. Moto G6 Play, on the other hand, is having only a single rear camera with an 8MP selfie shooter on the front.
Moto G6 is powered by 3000 mah battery while Play version is backed by a huge 4000 mah battery. Both Devices do get a bundled Turbo Charger in the retail box.
Both Devices are running on Android 8.0 and will be upgraded to Android P soon.
Moto G6 is priced at Rs 13,999 for 3 GB+ 32 GB variant and for 4 GB + 64 GB you have to pay a good amount 15,999 Rs.It will come in Indigo Black color only across India.
Moto G6 play is available in two exciting colors: Fine Gold and Indigo Black and priced at Rs 11,999.
Opinions On Moto G6 And Moto G6 Play
In short, the phones seem to be over-priced as the processors they have used simply do not comply with that pricing. There is nothing special in these phones that we supposed to expect from Motorola as their First G series phone Moto G was a remarkable hit.
There is not even a single strong point to choose over its competitors, take Redmi note 5 Pro, for example, you just have to add 1K more and you will get a better battery life, performance, Maybe the camera is also better on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Bottom Line: Buy Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Or Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro. These both phones will provide far better value than Moto’s offerings.
